# Support for Festival Foodie

Festival Foodie is a menu companion for walking a food festival. This page
covers the things people ask about most.

## Getting started

Open the app and browse the menu in whichever view suits you: List, Grid, or
the swipeable Card view (switch between them from the Options menu at the top
of the list). Tap any dish to see more, save it to try later with the
bookmark button, or open Map to see where a booth is.

## My saved dishes disappeared

They should not. Saves are stored on your device and are meant to survive
closing and reopening the app. If a save is missing:

- Check the "Saved only" filter in the Options menu isn't hiding it under a
rating filter you don't expect (for example, "Saved only" plus "Not tried"
will hide anything you've already rated).
- Force-quitting the app should never clear a save. If it does, please get in
touch using the contact below and describe what happened; that is a bug we
  want to fix.

## My rating, or the crowd percentage, looks wrong

Your own rating is stored on your device the moment you set it. The crowd
percentage next to a dish comes from our server and can take a few minutes to
catch up after you or anyone else votes. Your own vote is counted in what you
see immediately, even before the server has processed it.

If a dish shows "Be the first to rate this!" and you believe someone must
have already rated it, that message only shows when we have received no
votes at all for that item, or when we could not reach the server. It clears
itself automatically once a rating is on file.

## The app can't find me on the map

The map only shows your location if you allow it, and only while you're using
the app. Tap "Show my location" on the Map tab to be asked; if you already
said no, the button will offer to open Settings so you can turn it on. Every
other part of the map, including every booth pin, works without this
permission.

## Some dishes have no picture

Not every dish in the source data has a photograph. Where one is missing, the
app shows a labeled placeholder instead of leaving a blank space, so it's
never mistaken for a broken image.

## The festival dates or prices are wrong

Menus, prices, and availability are captured from the festival's own public
listings ahead of time and can change once the festival is underway. Prices
in the app should be treated as a reference, not a guarantee, and dish photos
are AI-generated renderings rather than photographs of the actual food.
